Which wrinkles can be treated with Botox?
Botox treatment is the first choice when it comes to injecting expression lines. These are all the wrinkles that result from facial muscle activity. With botulinum toxin, we can reduce, for example, crow’s feet, laugh lines, forehead wrinkles, or frown lines. Fine lines around the nose, mouth, and chin are also visibly smoothed.
Botox is less suitable for treating deep wrinkles. If you’d like to have such pronounced wrinkles injected, a treatment with hyaluronic acid might be a better choice. A combined anti-aging treatment is also possible. Your practitioner will be happy to advise you further on this personally.
What should be considered before a Botox treatment?
You don’t need to prepare specifically for your wrinkle treatment. After all, you should enjoy the treatment to the fullest. Before the injections, your practitioner will explain all the details to you again. During this personal consultation, you’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and express your wishes. Together, you’ll decide how best to achieve your desired result.
Procedure of a Botox treatment
Wrinkle treatment with Botox is a quick and painless procedure that can easily be integrated into your daily routine. You don’t have to deal with any downtime and can immediately resume your usual activities. The entire treatment only takes about fifteen minutes.
The skin is first disinfected and, if desired, numbed with a special cream. Your practitioner then injects the botulinum toxin into the muscle using very fine needles. This procedure is virtually painless and should not cause any discomfort afterward.
After the wrinkle injection, the skin is briefly cooled. You may relax for a moment until the treatment is complete. Afterwards, you can leave the treatment rooms immediately and resume your daily activities as usual.
How long does the minimally invasive procedure take?
On average, a Botox injection treatment takes only about 10-20 minutes. The exact duration can vary slightly depending on the size of the treated areas. After the treatment, you will not be restricted in any way and can resume your professional and social activities as usual. Any slight initial redness can usually be easily covered with makeup.
What should be considered after Botox treatment?
After Botox treatment, you should avoid lying down and massaging the treated areas for a few hours. During this time, the botulinum toxin continues to spread under the skin. It’s also important to refrain from sports, saunas, and tanning beds for the first 1-2 days.
Immediately after the treatment, the skin may be temporarily reddened or swollen. Slight bruising is also perfectly normal, but should disappear completely within a few days at the latest.
We use very fine needles and cool the skin after the Botox treatment to prevent visible redness and swelling. You can also gently cool the skin yourself to counteract any minor irritation.
When will the results of a Botox treatment be visible and how long will they last?
After wrinkle injections, it takes about 2-4 days for the botulinum toxin to take full effect. The treated wrinkles should disappear or at least be significantly reduced after a few weeks at the latest.
For more pronounced wrinkles, several sessions may be necessary to achieve the desired result. Using a lower dosage allows us to better control the outcome. Therefore, if in doubt, we prefer to use a smaller amount of the active ingredient and then make corrections in a second session.
The effects of a Botox treatment typically last about 4 to 9 months. After that, the body begins to gradually break down the Botox. With regular top-ups, it’s often possible to extend the intervals between treatments. Regular application leads to lasting muscle relaxation and a reduction in wrinkles.
